Launching of "Substitute of Revolution"

Currently, me and my classmates are working on a group project called "Substitute for Revolution."

It's an online interactive psychological drama about a depressed man who wants to escape the real world. The character is called Patrick Winter.

The user is put into the position of the character, a depressed and psychologically disturbed man living in a run down inner-city apartment. As the user explores his apartment, they discover gateway objects, which lead to experiencing altered states of mind. When awaking back in the real world, the user and character find that parts of his altered state have manifested in the real world apartment.

Make some time and come over for our launch on 17th of May, at the VR Centre at Building 91, Victoria Street, Melbourne.

Join the Facebook group for further updates on the exhibition!

Married Life - Disney Pixar "UP"

Up is an animated film, which revolves around the main character, Carl Fredricksen, (protagonist) who has a childhood dream to go on an adventure to Paradise Falls in South America with his wife, Ellie, since they both of them were kid. They were so captivated by an explorer Charles Muntz, who was their idol. They wanted to follow his footstep. After Carl’s wife died, he started to lead a lonely life and things happen. Here is where he met a boy who would become his sidekick; in exploring the place he has longing to go since he was small.

This is my favorite scene in this animated film as through out the 4 minutes, the storytelling is in the form of audio and visual only. The way it was structured is so strong that i could feel the moment and also emotion. Really love this part.

Are You Gonna Be My Girl

I found this on facebook. Posted by my fried. Simple and nice usage of text within space. This was done using After Effect 7. I got no idea who did this but it's pretty good.

This reminds me to the opening title sequence of the film "Cathc Me If You Can." Credits to the person who did this.

The Opening Cinematic of The Beatles Rock Band

This is the opening Cinematic for The Beatles Rock Band Game. Love this animation and also the concept of creating it. The design of it as well. I watch the making of it and one interesting fact about this animation is its has a lot of hidden message through out the whole animation and all of it relates to how the beatles was created. Its like another form of storytelling to the journey of it.

One of the part is at the very beginning when the camera tilts down from the city view and it passes though a brick wall. On the brick wall, there were many posters and actually the information in it was all about the beatles on how they started on the band. Interesting as the production was so detail even though the camera tilts down very fast and could not read what is written on the posters. They very detail in every aspect. A good example to learn from.

Fallen Art by Tomas Baginski

Fallen Art presents the story of General A, a self-procliamed artist. His art, however, consists of a deranged method of stop motion photography, where the individual frames of the movie are created by photographs made by Dr. Johann Friedrich, depicting the bodies of dead soldiers, pushed down by Sergeant AL from a giant springboard onto a slab of concrete.

Fallen Art (Polish Sztuka Spadania) is the name of a 6 minute, animated short film written and directed by Tomas Baginski. It features Romanian band Fanfare Ciocarlia's song "Afalt Tango." The film was produced and created by Platige Image, a VFX company. In 2006, it received the British Academy of Film and Television Arts Award.

Abstract Art

This was my first assignment that i submitted for concept development. Was given the choice to draw or even take photographs> i took the option of taking photographs and this techniques was taught to me by my lecturer, Dr. Chris Barker and i admit i didn't do much research in completing this assignment as my concern at that time was deadline so managed to get this done in time.

What i did was took some photographs and used the technique of frame blending in after effect. This was not good at all but i would love to try this again and giving some thoughts of making it better in terms of the flow and content of it. I think it was a good start of knowing how to utilize this effect.

Would love to try more in future using this technique but different approach.

Mind's Eye - Minor Project

Currently working on my minor project. It's a 3d animation with 2d animation as well in it. Looking for this piece to go for a bout 1 minute to 1 minute 3o second.

The title of this short animation is "MIND'S EYE," where its like a mixture of reality, illusion of one'1 mind as well as the mind is playing the trick. Its all illusion within the mind.

Completed the script for it as well as the storyboard and i'm working on completing the color script. As soon as i have completed the color script, will post it up here.

Time + Perspective

This is of of my latest assignment handed in for concept development, where the approach i took was on creating a generative stuff. Basically, the theme for this assignment was time + perspective and was supposed to create animation loops.

Basically, got the idea for creating this loop when i was walking around in melbourne, particularly in a music store, where i saw this old record player playing this record. As i was looking at then record being played and it went in spiral, there were shape and form on the record and as it turn, it created a loop.

What i did next was going into after effect and creating all of this sphere shape and animating it to move in such a way that its like a devise to hypnotized. I only realized about this when it was completed. After that, it was editing in final cut pro with adding some sound to it.

The catch for the sound is i used a song by Elvis Presley, a song which portray the king during his golden age as related to the records. So in a way, it reflects the design and also audio for it. What i did next was to make the loop synchronized with the song as when it is complete, the loop looks like its following the song.
